The 27-year-old threw a distance of 68.27 to claim the title, before taking off on a lap of honour wearing his national flag as a cape.
When he reached the barriers set out for the women's 100m Hurdles final, he leapt over them to loud cheers from the crowd.
Ehsan Hadadi of Iran claimed silver, throwing 68.18, with Estonia's Gerd Kanter winning the bronze medal with a season's-best throw of 68.03.
