Germany and New Zealand row to gold

Germany were crowned Olympic champions in the men's Quadruple Sculls and New Zealand took the men's Pair gold medal.

The Germans set the pace for the length of the men's Quadruple Sculls final and then accelerated clear of Croatia, who had been unbeaten in 2012 up until this race.

Australia's world champions finished with bronze. 

New Zealand's dominant crew of Hamish Bond and Eric Murray claimed men's Pair gold in stunning fashion, lengths ahead of the field.

France held on to win the silver medal after fighting off Great Britain's desperate last effort in a thrilling surge for the line.

George Nash and William Satch delivered Britain's fourth rowing medal of the Olympic Games by winning a bronze.
