Famous figures sport hats for London 2012 Festival

If you were wandering around London today, you may have noticed that some of the capital’s most famous statues were sporting extravagant hats as part of a London 2012 Festival event.

Hatwalk is an event that celebrates both London’s creativity and heritage. Some of the UK’s best milliners and hatmakers, including Philip Treacy and Stephen Jones, acclaimed for designing hats that were worn at the Royal wedding last April and creating ranges for renowned designers such as Vivienne Westwood, have created custom hats for some of the country’s most admirable historical characters.

The hats were sported by a total of 21 statues around the capital, all within walking distance of each other, including King George IV, the Duke of Wellington and Lord Admiral Nelson in Trafalgar Square.

The event is running until 2 August. For more information on this and other London 2012 Festival events coming up, visit the London 2012 Festival website
