Highlights for today include artist Tracey Emin carrying the Flame at the Turner Gallery in Margate. A London-based artist, Tracey graduated from the Maidstone College of Art in 1986, and was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1999.
Olympian Steven Backley will run with the Flame in Ramsgate, while Joseph Smith, 78, who became the oldest Briton ever to swim the English Channel at the age of 65, will also carry the Flame.
To add to the list of landmarks visited on the Torch Relay, the Flame will also be carried through the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral today.
The evening celebration will take place at Leeds Castle in Maidstone and will feature a variety of entertainment, including a performance of The River Runs Through, commissioned by Maidstone Borough Council and Kent County Council and performed by local children and adults. It tells the story of Maidstone through history using the iconic images from Maidstone's coat of arms.
The last Torchbearer of the day – Julia Chilcott, a foster carer for Kent County Council – will light a celebration cauldron on stage at the end of the event so the Olympic Flame to be seen by the audience.
On day 62 the Relay will visit the following communities: Deal, Sholden, Sandwich, Great Stonar, Cliffs End, St Lawrence, Ramsgate, Broadstairs, St Peters, Cliftonville, Margate, Westgate-on-Sea, Birchington-on-Sea, Upstreet, Sturry, Canterbury, Thanington, Faversham, Challock, Harrietsham and Maidstone.
