Olympic Flame travels on Scots Guardsman
Torchbearer Josephine Loughran carries the Olympic Flame on the Scots Guardsman steam locomotive.

The Relay begins this morning at 8.05am at York Minster. The first Torchbearer is Jessica Hoggarth-Hall who celebrates her 14th birthday today. Jessica was selected for overcoming her dyslexia through regular participation in drama activities.

Also carrying the Flame today is Josephine Loughran who donated one of the lobes of her lungs to her sister Sheila who had cystic fibrosis. Josephine has since done a great deal to raise awareness of the disease and the need for more people to carry organ donor cards.

Jordan Little, 20, from Carlisle will carry the Flame into today's Evening Celebration. Jordan was selected for his work as Activities Coordinator for the Carlisle Youth Council and for being a positive ambassador for young people.

In total 85 Torchbearers will carry the Flame today through York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Aiskew, Bedale, Aysgarth, Leyburn, Richmond, Barnard Castle, Brough, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Penrith and Carlisle.

The evening celebration will take place at Bitts Park, Carlisle, featuring music from Katy B, the sensational singer-songwriter and Mercury Prize nominee, a dance troupe who will provide a unique fusion of street performance, theatre and sport and dance act Twist and Pulse.
