China untroubled by Greece

China's Xue Chen and Zhang Xi progressed to the last 16 of the women's Beach Volleyball competition at Horse Guards Parade after defeating Greece.

The pair enjoyed an untroubled 2-0 victory in their final preliminary phase match this morning.

The women's second seeds, bronze medallists in Beijing four years ago, ran out 21-17 21-16 winners to make it back-to back triumphs in Pool B.

China have recovered well from a surprise opening loss to Russia's Anastasia Vasina and Anna Vozakova, who are in action later against Switzerland's Simone Kuhn and Nadine Zumkehr.

Defeat for Greece duo Vasiliki Arvaniti and Maria Tsiartsiani leaves them waiting on the outcome of the remaining pool match to see if they can claim third place and a possible ticket to the last 16.

Germany's Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler joined reigning world champions Juliana Silva and Larissa Franca of Brazil in qualifying from Pool A.
