New figures published by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) show that local and previously unemployed people are continuing to get jobs on the Olympic Park.

More than 2,700 workers are currently on site building the venues and infrastructure for the London 2012 Games. Nearly a quarter of these live locally and around half are from London.

Construction activity is increasing steadily on the Park and the ODA is on track to complete the Olympic Stadium and Aquatics Centre foundations by next summer, as set out in the ‘big build: foundations’ milestones.

ODA Chief Executive David Higgins said: ‘We are working closely with our contractors and partner organisations to help ensure that alongside a physical legacy of world class sporting venues, new infrastructure and a new park the Games can also help local people build new career paths long into the future.’
