The Olympic Delivery Authority today announced the winners of the competition to design the 26 metre long, 55 metre wide footbridge in the heart of the Olympic Park.

During the Games the River Lea crossing will give pedestrians easy access between the Olympic Stadium, Aquatics Centre and Basketball Arena.

When the Games are over, demountable parts of the bridge will be taken away to leave two separate bridges measuring 6.5 metres spanning either side of Carpenters Lock.

ODA Director of Infrastructure and Utilities Simon Wright said: ‘The winning team impressed the design jury with its understanding of the need to plan Games and legacy together. Their designs will help us lock-in legacy now by designing a bridge that meets the needs of the Games but which also leaves behind a striking structure in the heart of the Olympic Park for future generations to enjoy.’
