An artist's impression of the Trees after the GamesThe artworks, created by British
artists Ackroyd and Harvey, were today granted planning permission and will act
as a permanent reminder of the Games and surrounding communities.
Once planted, each tree will have a large ring, engineered from either phosphored bronze or stainless steel and weighing up to 500kg, securely placed in the crown. The inside of the rings will be engraved with hidden histories.
They will be the largest trees on
the Olympic Park, reaching up to 18 metres tall.
