Local schoolchildren and GB Handball and Goalball teams try out Handball Arena for first time

Members of the Great Britain Handball and Goalball teams visited the Olympic Park to try out the completed Handball Arena, where they will be compete during the London 2012 Games.

Construction on the Handball Arena was completed in May. The venue includes copper cladding, natural light shafts and multicoloured seating of which the lower tier is retractable.

After the Games the flexible Handball Arena will become a multi-use venue for indoor sports competition and training at all levels and events. People of all ages and abilities will be able to use the venue.

ODA Chief Executive Dennis Hone said: 'It’s great to see the completed Handball Arena in action. Seeing it being used by the British athletes that will compete here in London 2012 and the schoolchildren that will make the most of the arena after the Games really brings it to life.'
