Comedian Miranda Hart will voice one of the characters in the new film. The cast will be voicing the characters in the half-hour animation, which has been created from drawings, sound effects and story ideas by children aged five to 13 from across the UK.
Children were asked to submit their artwork to the project’s online movie studio, which has had over 500,000 hits since launching last July.
Tate asked children to vote on the Tate Movie Project website for which celebrities they wanted to see play cameo roles in the production.
Other big names taking part in the project include Sanjeev Bhaskar, Ralf Little, Miriam Margolyes, Lucy Montgomery, Vic Reeves and Alexei Sayle.
Two children will provide the voices of main character Beanie and his older sister Beryl. In the storyline, Beanie has to return the Golden Nit to the sun in order to save the universe.
There will be a red carpet premiere in London's Leicester Square on Wednesday 29 June for the film, which will also be shown by the BBC.
In addition, the film will be screened on London 2012 Live Sites across the UK, at galleries and at Vue cinemas nationwide over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
