London 2012 calls on businesses to start planning for the Games

London 2012 has launched a campaign to provide UK businesses with information about transport plans for the London 2012 Games.

Businesses

The event, attended by over 400 representatives from UK businesses, is the first part of an initiative to help businesses and commuters make informed travel choices during the Games. Attendees were given presentations by London 2012, Transport for London and the Department for Transport, before attending workshops on topics such as freight and logistics and the Olympic Route Network/Paralympic Route Network.

David Higgins, Chief Executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority, said: ‘UK businesses are already benefiting from the Games with thousands of contracts worth billions of pounds.

‘London is benefiting from a large-scale regeneration project, as well as a huge financial investment in transport, which will benefit the capital for decades.
‘Along with the benefits, there will also be some challenges for the capital as we welcome the world to London.

‘It will be business as unusual during the Games and we are reaching out early to help companies plan their Games and ensure they keep running in 2012.’

A ‘toolkit’ of information is available on a new dedicated travel advice for business section of the London 2012 website to help businesses plan their operations during the Games.

It includes a handbook providing advice and information on preparing businesses for the Games, along with maps showing venue locations, potential ‘travel hotspots’ and times and dates of events.
