Aerial image of Lee Valley White Water Centre from May 2010The ODA started construction work on the venue in July 2009 and more than 100 people are now working on site.
The Lee Valley White Water Centre in Hertfordshire is one of the first venues due to be completed and will be available for use before the Games. Training and testing is scheduled to take place in 2010-2011, with some public use in 2011.
ODA Chairman John Armitt said: ‘These new aerial images are an exciting glimpse of another world-class London 2012 venue taking shape. We are on track to complete the White Water Canoe Centre later this year, helping deliver an early sporting legacy for the East of England region well before the Games in 2012.’
After the Games, temporary spectator seating around the venue will be removed to develop the venue into the Lee Valley White Water Centre, a major leisure attraction for canoeing and white water rafting. The venue will also be used for international competition and sports development opportunities.
