Seb will be launching a major new region-wide volunteering initiative called ‘Volunteers – we need YOU!’. The campaign aims to encourage people in the West Midlands to be inspired by the London 2012 Games and get active in their own communities. The scheme has been awarded the London 2012 Inspire mark, for innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the Games.
A visit to Trentham Lake, a Paralympic Rowing Pre-Games Training Camp, will also be made, where Seb will meet rowers and canoeists, including youth and disabled groups and Paralympic athletes training for 2012, along with their volunteer coaches. Seb will also mark the start of production of official London 2012 souvenirs and merchandise at nearby Waterford, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton.
To round the visit off, Seb will be presenting an award at the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sports Awards, an event which showcases and celebrates the sporting excellence within the area.
