ODA Chairman John Armitt today visiting several businesses in the East Midlands that are working on the project, including suppliers of concrete, timber cladding, and lifting equipment. John also urged other businesses to ‘seize the moment’ to get involved with London 2012.
He said: ‘Businesses of all types and sizes are helping to deliver the London 2012 Games. While the bulk of the ODA’s direct contracts have now been awarded, there are still opportunities through the UK-wide supply chain and with the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG). Companies should “seize the moment” and sign up to CompeteFor – the online business dating agency to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.’
With the ‘big build’ entering its toughest year the ODA still has at least 100 direct contracts remaining, from building the BMX Circuit to temporary elements of the Shooting venue. However, the bulk of opportunities will now be with LOCOG.
