The construction of the Olympic Stadium will start three months early, by the end of May.

The sunken ‘bowl’ being dug into the soil is nearly finished, where in some areas ground levels have been lowered by up to nine metres. The bowl will hold the 25,000 permanent seats, surrounded by 55,000 removable seats that will be taken away after the Games.

Over 800,000 tonnes of soil have been dug out from the Stadium site and will be re-used around the Olympic Park.

Site offices have now been built for construction staff working on the Olympic Stadium. These offices will be used by over 1,000 workers ranging from engineers and architects to foremen and digger drivers. The first 50 are expected to be move to the offices in April.
