Games transport plans on the move

The first stage of consulting on transport plans for London 2012 ends today, and has provided valuable feedback to Games planners.

Comments on the plans have been received from organisations including local authorities, MPs, police forces, transport operators, and environmental and community groups.

Feedback has been positive, with praise for areas such as the commitment to sustainability.

Responses will now be considered before the first full Transport Plan is published later this year.

The draft transport plan was launched in October 2006, six years ahead of the Games - the first time the draft has been launched so early.

ODA director of Transport Hugh Sumner said: "Our transport plans for the Games will help transform the Lower Lea Valley into one of the best-connected areas in the capital, bringing economic and social benefits that go far beyond 2012, and far beyond sport."
