Brit winner for London Triathlon

Londoner Stuart Hayes has stormed to victory in the London Triathlon.

Hayes hopes to go on to compete in the 2012 London Games:

"I'll be 33 so obviously I'll be coming towards the end of my career. But I could actually be at my peak - because triathlon is such an endurance event, like the marathon, you can keep going into your early thirties."

In the Women's elite event Australian Emma Snowshill, the 2003 world champion, outstripped Britain's Leanda Cave and Liz Blatchford in the third leg.

British Ollie Freeman, a 19-year-old who is hoping to compete in 2012, won the junior event.

The Michelob Ultra London Triathlon is now the largest triathlon in the world with 8,500 competitors taking part over two days.

It is also the first major multi-sport event to take place since London was elected Host City for the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

At the London 2012 Olympic Games, Hyde Park will provide a stunning backdrop for the Triathlon.

Three thousand spectators will enjoy a grandstand view of the finishing area, with many thousands more enjoying the action as the athletes cycle and run throughout the park.
