During the trip, Seb unveiled a statue celebrating the success of athletes in the Badenoch and Strathspey region. Out of a population of 10,000, 14 have represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games.

He also met young people at the recently opened Craig McLean Leisure Centre in Grantown-on-Spey and had a question and answer session with up-and-coming athletes at Glenmore Lodge, one of sportsscotland’s three national training centres.

Seb also met with the two Scottish members of the British team competing at the WorldSkills Championship in November, giving young people the opportunity to show off skills of various trades.

Julia Bracewell OBE, Chair, Scottish Steering Group for London 2012 said: 'The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will help generate enthusiasm for sport among our young people. It will inspire people to get involved from grass roots to the highest level.

'Scotland has a proud tradition of producing world class Olympians and London 2012 will provide yet another opportunity for our country’s talented athletes to shine on the world stage.'
