Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee, addresses the Rising to the Challenge summitThe 16 young 'Leaders and Ambassadors' from around the region addressed an interactive workshop, as part of an event aiming to maximise the benefits of the Games to the East of England.
One of the pupils, Charlotte Davis, said: "It was a great chance to tell important people in the business community what the 2012 Games mean to young athletes like me – and what they could do for sport in our region."
Sebastian Coe added: "The message we took to Singapore was that a London Games would inspire young people to take part in sport across the UK, and it's very encouraging to see this happening here at the University of Hertfordshire today."
The regional event brought together businesses, public sector bodies and young people from the whole of the East of England. Workshops included areas such as tourism, business, sports skills and culture.
