Derek Mapp will encourage more community and grassroots participation in sport as Chair of Sport EnglandDerek Mapp, who has strong business and regional development experience, will hold the position until 2010.
Making the announcement, Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell said: "Sport England is all about getting more people taking part in sport and about developing the club, coaches, volunteers and modern sporting facilities we need to get people involved.
"Derek's strong entrepreneurial background and commitment to grassroots participation make him well equipped for this challenge."
