He was speaking at the official opening of the new Weymouth College Community Sports Centre, which will enable children to take part in a range of sports.

Touring the facility, Sebastian Coe said: "It's great to see the students being encouraged to take a keen interest in sport and who knows some of those training here today may go on to compete in the 2012 Games.

"The message we took to Singapore was that a London Games would inspire young people to take part in sport, and it's very encouraging to see this happening here at Weymouth College today."

Later in the day Seb visited 2012 Sailing venue Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and highlighted the benefits hosting the Games will bring to the region.

During his visit to the region Coe also started the South West Baton Relay and addressed an audience at the Weymouth Pavilion.
