Taking place every Thursday to Sunday over the next three weeks, one of the UK's foremost outdoor arts festival will feature dance, performance art and street theatre.

Cathy Marston from the Royal Ballet, Jonzi D from Sadler's Wells and Asian dance company Akademi are amongst those performing in an innovative and colourful programme.

The festival is based on a 'City on the Move' theme, with a different element explored each week.

The first week, 'Evolving City', focuses on development, migration and change.

Commissioning the Festival, London Mayor Ken Livingstone said: "Trafalgar Square has become one of the city's most vibrant open spaces and provides an unrivalled backdrop for live performances.

"We want Londoners, as well as tourists, to see at least one performance during the festival, which is intended to dazzle and make you look at the city with fresh eyes."
