The world-class venue will welcome up to 40,000 competitors, cheering on a record 1,101 competitors from 64 countries.

Held in Britain for the first time in 20 years, last year's winning British teams will be hoping for repeat Championship performances in the Men's Coxless Four and Women's Quadruple Scull.

Gold medallist Alex Partridge, above far right, said: "Having the World Championships at Eton means a huge amount to the whole team, as competing in front of your home crowd is something, as rowers, we rarely get to do."

Sculling World Cup holder Allan Campbell will also be aiming for a medal.
