The total beat the original target of ten set by Performance Director Dave Collins and gave Britain fourth place in the medals table.

Dwain Chambers, Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis won the men's 4x100m in 38.91 seconds.

The women's 4x100m team ran impressively to win silver in their race, having only qualified as fastest losers from the Semi-Finals.

Young GB athletes showed excellent promise through the course of the Championships, not least 23-year-old Mo Farah, who claimed silver in the 5000m after a superb race.

Sam Ellis, 23, was another 2012 hopeful who made his mark, securing bronze in the 800m.

Tim Benjamin ran an impressive final leg of the men's 4x400m team to bring home silver behind the French, rounding off the successful final day.
