Roadshow tour of Scotland continues

Scottish sporting stars came out in force today to welcome the 2012 Roadshow.

Olympic Gold medallist Rhona Martin and leading athlete Lee McConnell were joined in Stirling and Glasgow by senior officials including IOC Member Sir Craig Reedie, Deputy Chairman of the London organising committee Sir Keith Mills and Director of Communications Jackie Brock-Doyle.

In the fine setting of King's Park in Stirling young people taking part in athletics events received tips and encouragement from Lee McConnell and the other guests.

Speaking about the Games in 2012, Lee McConnell said:
"It will be fantastic for British athletes to compete in London. It was an extra special experience winning a medal at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester because of the support."

Later the bus travelled to George Square in the heart of Glasgow, where the crowds enjoyed a music performance in the presence of Scottish Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport Patricia Ferguson MSP. The final stop of the day was at Hampden Park, which will host matches in the football tournament in 2012.
