Construction commitments to benefit 2012 Games

The Government today signed a set of groundbreaking commitments with the UK construction industry to ensure the 2012 Games will be of the highest standard.

The joint '2012 Construction Commitments' will help to deliver the venues and facilities for London 2012 and beyond on time and to budget.

Developed the past few months, the agreement covers key areas in the construction process, including health and safety, sustainability and design.

Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell said: "We can be proud of the wealth of talent and experience within the construction industry in this country.

"The agreement we have signed today will allow us to capitalise on this expertise to put on an exceptional games that will be the pride of the UK for a generation."
