2012's Dream Number comes up

National Lottery operator Camelot today launched 'Dream Number', the first draw-based lottery game for the London 2012 Games.

London 2012 organising committee Chair Sebastian Coe joined Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell for the launch, along with past Olympic Gold medallists and 2012 hopefuls.

Lottery ticket buyers will have the option to play Dream Number alongside the main twice-weekly draw for £1 per play, with prizes worth up to £500,000.

All the money raised will help to fund the staging of the London 2012 Games, the first time a draw-based game has benefited a single cause.

Drawn every Wednesday and Saturday evening, Dream Number players must match up to seven numbers on their ticket in the same order as they are picked, with a one in ten chance of winning at least £2.

The first 2012 National Lottery scratchcards, 'Go for Gold', went on sale just three weeks after London's winning bid on 6 July 2005, making record sales and raising millions for the Games.

Announcing the new draw, Camelot Chief Executive Dianne Thompson said: "Almost a year to the day since London emerged victorious, it seems the perfect moment to launch Dream Number - our first draw for London 2012.

"What better name for a game that's designed to help realise the sporting dreams, not just of a nation, but also of athletes from around the world.

"London 2012 will also be a dream come true for the thousands of people coming to the UK to watch the Games in person, or sitting glued to their TVs cheering on their favourite competitors."
