London 2012 competitors can expect top-class pre-Games facilitiesThe guidelines indicate priorities for prospective venues, including being able to offer athletes the highest standards for training, accommodation, transport links and food.
After an online application process, those meeting the criteria will be included in a guide for all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and National Paralympic Committees (NPCS), to be issued in 2008.
Launching the process at the 2012 Business Summit in Leeds, Chair of London 2012 Nations & Regions Group Charles Allen said: "We will use Pre-Games Training Camps to engage the whole country and spread the benefits of the Games throughout the UK.
"This provides a fantastic opportunity for nations and regions of the UK to host an international team of athletes, bringing not only economic benefits, but also helping to inspire communities to support the Games," added Allen.
Debbie Jevans, Director of Sport for the London 2012 Organising Committee said: "I am delighted that we are launching this process to identify the very best sporting facilities across the UK.
"Whilst the standards that we are looking for may seem high, this is necessary to ensure that we provide the athletes with world-class facilities so that they can train at venues which have the same standards as those they will be competing at during the Olympic and Paralympic Games."
