The five Host Boroughs - Hackney, Newham, Greenwich, Waltham Forest and Tower Hamlets - also voiced their approval for the plans.
Sir Robin Wales, Chair of the Host Borough Group, said: "Our primary concern has always been to ensure that the 2012 Games will provide a lasting legacy for the residents and communities of the Host Boroughs.
"The new masterplan is clearly a positive step in this direction."
EC&O Venues, who operate Earls Court, have welcomed the decision to host the Volleyball competition at their venue.
Simon Conway, Chief Operating Officer, EC&O Venues, said: "We're delighted to have been able to work with the London 2012 Games' organisers to bring Volleyball to Earls Court.
"The venue's flexible space, central London location, excellent transport links and the amenities on its doorstep are clear influencing factors and have made Earls Court an obvious choice of Olympic venue."
