Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Chief Executive David Higgins has spoken about the importance of partnerships in ensuring the success of the London 2012 Games.

He was speaking at the ODA's first stakeholder event held at the Museum in Docklands and attended by Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell, Sir Ian Blair (above) and other key stakeholders.

Mr Higgins said: "Tonight marks the birth of the ODA as an organisation. To be up and running less than a year since Singapore is testament to the tremendous cross party support that existed to deliver the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act.

"We have made a good start but the hard work lies ahead. The key to success lies in partnership. It is tremendous that so many key organisations are here tonight that will play a part in the delivery of the Games".

The ODA is responsible for building the infrastructure necessary to stage the London 2012 Games.

The organisation became a statutory body after Royal Assent of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act earlier this year.
