Businesses urged to gear up for Games

Businesses across the UK have been urged to ensure they are prepared to make the most of the opportunities presented by the 2012 Games.

 ODA Chair Jack LemleyJack Lemley

Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) Chair Jack Lemley (above) also reassured companies across Britain that the vast majority of Olympic contracts have yet to be tendered.

Speaking at the 'London 2012 Games: Economic benefits for the West Midlands Business Summit', Mr Lemley said:

"The 2012 Games offers a great opportunity for businesses in this country, not just in construction and infrastructure, but also across many other disciplines.

"My message today is that you haven't missed the boat, but that you need to make sure your company is fully prepared to take advantage of opportunities in the years to come."

Mr Lemley encouraged companies to utilise the support services offered by their local Regional Development Agency.

Businesses were also urged to familiarise themselves with public procurement processes and the various stages involved in the tendering process - from expressing interest in contracts to submitting tender proposals.

All tender opportunities will be published on www.london2012.com/business
