The new 'Go for Gold' scratchcard is recording sales of over £1 million weekly.
'Go for Gold' has sold faster than any other new £1 scratchcard launched by Camelot since November 2002.
National Lottery operator Camelot Group today announced that it will be launching a second edition of 'Go for Gold' in response to overwhelming public demand.
The second edition will see over 20 million Go For Gold scratchcards printed, to replace the 11 million first-edition cards rapidly running out of stock.
National Lottery funding will contribute up to £1.5 billion towards the costs of the London 2012 Games, of which £750 million will come from a series of dedicated lottery games such as 'Go for Gold'.
Other games, including new scratchcards and special sports-themed games, are being explored by National Lottery Commission and the International Olympic Committee.
Dianne Thompson, Chief Executive of Camelot comments: "We are delighted by the tremendous response to the 'Go for Gold' scratchcard, which is one of our best-ever selling £1 scratchcards.
"Although we had anticipated the scratchcard would prove popular, to find ourselves in the very welcome position of having to produce a second edition 'Go for Gold' scratchcard, especially so soon after the launch of the first, is fantastic.
"The popularity of 'Go for Gold' clearly demonstrates that there is a real appetite amongst National Lottery players to support the London 2012 Games.
"Having got off to such a great start, we look forward to building on this success and to continuing to roll-out our programme of activity to help raise the funding required to stage one of the greatest modern Olympic Games and Paralympic Games ever."
