A series of succesful forums to consult the arts, culture and education sectors have been staged as part of planning for the Cultural Olympiad, starting in 2008.
Jude Kelly, Chair of Culture, Ceremonies & Education hosted the sessions designed to share initial information, provide briefings and forge partnerships.
Several open access sessions took place around London and over 250 individuals and organizations were represented from across the arts, culture and education sectors.
Michael Day, Chief Executive of Historic Royal Palaces said, "Collectively, we have a unique opportunity for London, the country, the Olympic Games and all the people whose lives we might touch, to do something extraordinary.
The challenge now is to create the framework that will allow all this goodwill and energy to come together to make something truly worthwhile."
The forums also mark the start of the scoping of London 2012's cultural programme embracing Pierre de Coubertin's vision that the Olympics forge the marriage of sport and art.
Jude Kelly said "London's culture & education proposals reflect the great energy and enthusiasm for the Games across the UK. In the years ahead we will turn these energies into activities and develop dynamic creative programmes to captivate the world in 2012".
