TV personality Nell McAndrew has led a delegation from Yorkshire to show the region's support for London's bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
Bid ambassador Ms McAndrew was accompanied on the visit to London 2012's offices by Athens silver medallist Alison Mowbray and children from the Yorkshire region.
They presented a symbolic white rose and a document detailing Yorkshire's support to Sports Minister Richard Caborn and London 2012 Chief Executive Keith Mills.
Mr Mills welcomed the support of one of the UK's largest counties.
"We are delighted by the enthusiasm and support Yorkshire is giving to the bid," he said. "It is essential for us to demonstrate to the IOC that the whole of the UK is behind the bid, and what a great passion for sport this country has.
"The work that Yorkshire has done shows they understand that hosting the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in this country in 2012 would bring great opportunities for everyone. We're committed to making sure everyone shares in this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Terry Hodgkinson, chairman of Yorkshire Forward the Regional Development Association for the Yorkshire and Humber Region, emphasised the benefits to the region.
He said: "We fully support the London bid for 2012 as, if successful, it will open up a whole host of opportunities for businesses and people across the UK, including those based in the Yorkshire & Humber region.
"Virtually all types of industry will benefit from Olympic-related spin-offs, which will stem from an increased number of tourists visiting our county, not just during the Games themselves, but for years either side of the event.
"The facilities we have available and planned for the next seven years will undoubtedly provide outstanding platforms for athletes from nearly 200 countries to hone their skills before the event commences."
The Yorkshire delegation were waved off at Leeds station by Jane Tomlinson, another London 2012 bid ambassador.
