London 2012 has recorded a huge surge in public support as details of London's bid to host the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games were launched.
In total xxx,xxx supporters have registered their support for the bid online, via text message or in person.
Total supporter numbers passed 200,000 on Friday 19 November, the day the details of the London bid were formally announced.
The bid team recorded a record number of messages of support via the web and text message in one day. The previous daily peak had coincided with the parade of Olympic and Paralympic medallists in London during October.
Messages of support on the London 2012 website have been received from all over the world. In total supporters from 85 countries have registered with the website, including places as far afield as Cambodia, Kyrgtstan, Tonga and Tajikistan.
Sebastian Coe, Chairman of London 2012, said: "These tremendous levels of support show that the public is really uniting behind our bid.
"We've asked the British public to 'Make Britain Proud' and 'Back the Bid', and they've done so in unprecendented numbers.
"We know how passionate the public is about sport in this country, and these figures show the British public is equally passionate about bringing the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to London."
"We're also delighted to see that support is flooding in from all over the world. London is a global city, and as we enter a new phase of promoting the bid internationally, it's great to see support for the bid already gaining momentum outside of the UK."
London 2012 has also been collecting support at events across the country using a unique 'Leap Counter' developed by London 2012 Premier Partner EDF Energy.
The Leap Counter automatically counts every supporter who 'Leaps for London' to show their backing for the bid.
