Over 40,000 Londoners showed their support for the 2012 Games visiting the Get Set London roadshow over the summer and autumn.
The roadshow visited 12 events between June and October, including the Rise Festival in Finsbury Park and the Olympic Handover celebrations on The Mall in August. Visitors had the chance to find out more about the opportunities the Games offer – including business, jobs and training, cultural events and volunteering.
They enjoyed cultural displays as well as meeting athletes – both returning from the Beijing Games and young athletes hoping to compete in 2012.
The summer/autumn roadshow followed a successful spring tour, which visited over 30 locations all over Greater London.
Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee, ‘London’s tenure as the Host City of the next Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games has started. Over the next four years, there will be a whole host of ways for every Londoner to be part of 2012, and to make the most of the opportunities London 2012 offers.
Through the Get Set London roadshow, we are able to show that from now until the Summer Games of 2012 and beyond this will be ‘everyone’s Games’.’
