The shortlist of contractors to build the White Water Canoe Centre in Broxbourne that will host Canoe and Kayak Slalom events during the London 2012 Games was announced today.
The contractors are bidding to build new facilities including a 300m course, warm-up course and finish lake.
The course will be part of a wider parkland area. Path and bridge networks throughout the venue will help spectators get close to the action. After the Games the venue will be a major sporting and leisure attraction.
A new building will also be built containing a reception, café, changing rooms, shop, offices, spectator viewing area, equipment storage and water pump/filtration facilities.
The five shortlisted companies are:
- Edmund Nuttall Limited
- Fitzpatrick Contractors Limited
- Carillion Construction Limited
- Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Limited
- Morrison Construction Limited
The Centre will be owned and managed by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, which owns the land.
