Team GB has made a great start ot the Beijing Games winning two gold medals, one silver and a bronze.
Cyclist Nicole Cooke brought home the team's first medal of 2008 and Team GB’s 200th gold medal from the modern Olympic Games. Welsh competitor Cooke powered her way to victory in the Women's Road Race.
Nineteen-year-old Rebecca Adlington won gold in the 400 meteres freestyle event, seizing the lead in the final seconds to win it at the wall. Adlington shared the podium with team-mate Joanne Jackson who swam a perfectly-paced race to win bronze.
Rebecca said: 'We are both so happy to have two British girls on the podium. I don't think either of us expected it and especially a gold and a bronze, it's absolutely amazing.'
This morning canoeist David Florence claimed a silver for Team GB in the C1 single Slalom. He said: 'It’s been a long, long time coming and means everything to me.'
