Britain's Beijing 2008 medal winners are to be honoured with a heroes parade in London.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson, together with the British Olympic Association (BOA) and the British Paralympic Association, announced the parade to welcome the winners back to the UK. It will take place on Thursday 16 October 2008.
The Mayor said: 'It is an opportunity to cheer all our heroes and honour their extraordinary feats at this summer's Games.'
The Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games have been Team GB's most successful since 1920. There have been notable successes in Cycling, Rowing, Swimming and Sailing. This afternoon saw medals in track and field with gold for Christine Ohuruogu in the Women's 400m and silver for Germaine Mason in the Men's High Jump.
