The construction of the Olympic Village is on track to start this summer, following the clearance of the area that will link the Village and VeloPark during the Games.
The clearance of the area included the demolition of 28 buildings, including the two tallest buildings on the Olympic Park site – the long disused, 12-storey University of East London towers.
The ODA has recycled or reclaimed for reuse more than 90 per cent of materials from demolition.
The Olympic Village will provide accommodation for athletes and officials during the Games. It will also include shops, restaurants, medical and leisure facilities, and large areas of open space.
After the Games, the Village will provide around 4,000 homes, many of which will be affordable tenures.
