The contracts for water, gas, communications and electrical services across the Park have been awarded.
These new facilities will help to develop the site for the Games and support the communities that will live in the area after the Games.
McNicholas won all four contracts, having completed a thorough and competitive tendering process. With all the contracts going to one contractor a common utilities ‘trench’ will be built across the Park - bringing greater efficiency to the utilities programme and potentially generating cost savings.
A further contract for a primary sewer and pumping station was awarded to Barhale Construction.
The latest contract awards mean contractors are now in place for the majority of the utilities work needed in the Park.
Work is well underway to remove, divert or disconnect disused pipes and cables across the Park.
The construction of the new utilities networks and infrastructure will begin in the summer, to coincide with the start of work on the main venues.
