The ODA has released the following statement relating to a fire that has taken place in east London today:

'The ODA can confirm that a fire in east London is within the Olympic Park site.

The fire is on the western edge of the Olympic Park on the site of an empty warehouse, behind the bus depot on Waterden Road.

The warehouse is in the process of being demolished. The London Fire Brigade is on site and the ODA’s site staff are working closely with them.

Chief Executive of the ODA David Higgins said: 'There will be a full investigation into this fire in a disused warehouse which was being prepared for demolition. Initial indications would suggest that this was an accident rather than arson. We are in touch with local residents and are keeping them informed of the situation.

'There has been a first class response from the emergency services. Meanwhile work is continuing in the rest of the park.' '
