The centenary of the London 1908 Olympic Games will be celebrated with a new £2 coin.

London 2012 agreed a deal with the Royal Mint to create the coin and sales will contribute to the £2 billion cost of hosting and staging the Games.

The limited edition coin will be available to buy from the Royal Mint. Selected products will be available in December and the full range launched in 2008.

London was Host City in 1908 and again in 1948. The British Olympic Association will also be marking the anniversary with a number of events throughout 2008.
