Seb Coe has sent his congratulations to Glasgow - Host City for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Cheers rang out across Scotland as the announcement was made today in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Glasgow beat the Nigerian capital Abuja for the right to host the games, one of the biggest Athletics competitions in the world.
Seb Coe said: 'This is fantastic news for Glasgow, Scotland and the UK, and everyone at London 2012 is delighted.
'We always hoped that London winning the Olympic and Paralympic Games would inspire other UK cities to bid for other events and I’m sure Glasgow will stage a wonderful Commonwealth Games in 2014.
'I have no doubt that we will be working closely with the organising committee over the next seven years or so. Many congratulations from the London team.'
The games will bring huge regeneration to the East End of Glasgow, with an Athlete's Village and new Velodrome planned for the area.
