The Olympic Village will be served by a new energy centre during and after the Games

Elyo has been named the preferred bidder for the Olympic Park and Stratford City energy centres.

The announcement was made today by the Olympic Delivery Authority and Stratford City Development Limited. Exclusive talks will now continue with Elyo, which is a subsidiary of SUEZ Energy Services.

The two energy centres will serve the Olympic Park and Stratford City during the Games and the local communities that will develop after 2012.

They include biomass boilers and a Combined Cooling, Heat and Power (CCHP) Plant. These support London 2012’s commitment to use renewable energy technology in the Olympic Park.

ODA Director of Infrastructure and Utilities Simon Wright said: ‘The energy centres will be the heart of the utilities network in the Olympic Park, fuelling not only a summer of world-class sport, but also the lasting regeneration of the area for many years to come.’
