A multi-million pound investment package to improve skills and training opportunities for Londoners in the lead-up to the Games was welcomed today by the Olympic Delivery Authority.
Skills Minister David Lammy MP announced the funding on a tour of the Olympic Park and the Building Crafts College next to the site in Stratford, east London.
The Learning and Skills Council has said that an additional £5 million will be spent across London this year to expand vocational training in key areas where demand for skilled workers is forecast to increase in the run up to 2012 and beyond.
ODA Director of Construction Howard Shiplee said: ‘This welcome investment will help London 2012 achieve a sustainable skills and employment legacy.’
