First Olympic Park construction bridge lifted into place

The first of many construction bridges in the Olympic Park was put in place this week.

The bridges will enable easy access for construction vehicles and minimise the disruption to public roads and bridges surrounding the Park.

The temporary structure links the VeloPark and media centre construction sites in the north-west of the Park, currently undergoing earthworks in preparation for construction in 2008 and 2009.

In total more than 30 bridges and 20km of roads will be constructed in and around the Olympic Park over the next year, to allow access for demolition activity over the next year.

Olympic Delivery Authority, Director of Infrastructure, Simon Wright said: ‘The completion of this first bridge is an important step towards providing a network of safe secure routes across the Park, minimising the disruption on public roads outside of the site’.
