Christine Ohuruogu has claimed Britain's first gold medalĀ at the World Championships in Japan with a victory in the women's 400m.
The 23-year-old east Londoner ran a personal best to win in 49.61 seconds.
Fellow Briton Nicola Sanders also ran her fastest speed to win silver, just ahead of Jamaican Novlene Williams, who led for most of the race.
The gold and silver medals add to the bronze won by Kelly Sotherton earlier in the competition.
