The London 2012 Roadshow bus was heading south today as the sporting showcase arrived in Kent.

The specially-branded bus is currently on a whistle-stop tour of the UK, promoting the London 2012 Games and encouraging everyone to join in.

It is hoped the tour will unearth a few sporting superstars of the future as visitors were encouraged to take part in taster sessions ranging from extreme mountain biking to Bhangra dance.

Those still unsure of where their talents lay joined Javelin champ Steve Backley in the National Lottery Dream Stats Zone where the Dream Stats calculator matched their physical attributes and preferences to their ideal sport.

They were also shown what it takes to become a sporting champion and given advice about local clubs and facilities.

Chair of the London 2012 Organising Committee Sebastian Coe said: ‘London 2012 will be a nationwide Games and the Roadshow is only the first part of our pledge to involve everyone the length and breadth of the UK towards and including 2012.

‘I am delighted that the Roadshow is able to visit Kent to demonstrate first hand how this is being undertaken and get the local community involved.

‘We want to encourage young people to develop their sporting ability to achieve something for themselves or to inspire others to unearth their own talent.

‘Visiting the London 2012 Roadshow is a great first step to accomplishing this.’
